If you are replacing an existing sleeper sofa mechanism, it is very important to locate the manufacturer and model number of your current mechanism. This is the critical first step to ensuring you receive the correct product. And is the only reliable way to match parts, since many models of mechanism can be very similar, but not the same, in appearance and dimensions.

Where is this sticker located, on the mechanism itself or the sofa?

Using the information below, you should be able to locate the model number sticker for your mechanism. The two most common manufacturers of Sleeper Sofa Mechanisms are Leggett & Platt or Hickory Springs. Keep in mind that this will be different from the company that made your sofa (Ashley, Broyhill, Simmons, La‐Z‐Boy, etc.)

Where are the common locations to find a Model Number? 

In almost all cases, the manufacturer’s name and model number will be printed on a sticker applied directly to the metal frame. Most sleeper sofa mechanisms will have multiple stickers, since they may get rubbed and wear down with use.

What information is on the Sticker?

The model number sticker will contain a variety of information and may appear in several different formats. Two pictures showing typical Leggett & Platt stickers are below, although Hickory Springs and other manufacturers will have similar stickers.  The two pieces of information you’re looking for here are the manufacturer’s name and the size or model number. This is the information you will need to match the correct replacement sofa bed frame mechanism or repair kit online, and this is the first piece of information you will be asked for if you place an order on the phone.

I can’t find the sticker anywhere on the sleeper sofa mechanism.

Should you not be able to locate a sticker, or are retrofitting a fold-out sofa bed, the following information will assist in narrowing down your needed sleeper mechanism manufacturer and model number.  The first measurement will be the mounting bracket to mounting bracket points to confirm a width match. This is the point on each side of the sofa to which the metal sleeper unit is attached. (Green line below)

Next, you will want to measure the depth inside the sofa from front to back. Then is height capacity. Measure the height from the floor to the top of the unit now when folded into the fold-out couch.

Lastly, if you can confirm if your pull out bed unit has a rounded-type sofa bed frame or a squared-type frame. This information will get us on track to doing an educated guess on a replacement unit for you with as little room for error as possible. The square-type frame tubing is heavy-duty which all hospitality customers prefer.

Please note, when replacing sleeper sofa mechanisms without the make or model number, we are relying on the information you provide you make a best-educated guess. In these cases, sometimes modifications will have to be made, such as a different mounting position, to house the new sleeper mechanism. We use only freight to deliver your order, so let us know if you cannot receive freight shipments.
